History

The PC-12 NGX is the newest version of Pilatus’ single-engine turboprop, a design the Swiss manufacturer has refined for more than thirty years. It was announced in late 2019, already certified and ready to fly.

The first PC-12 flew in 1991 and entered service in 1994. More than 1,750 have been delivered since, which makes it the best selling single-engine turboprop in the world.

The NGX adds a more advanced Pratt and Whitney engine with electronic propeller and engine control, giving it an autothrottle and a quieter cruise. The cabin was redesigned with larger windows and a modern glass cockpit, and deliveries began in 2020.

The PC-12 first flew in 1991 and has since become one of the best selling single engine turboprops in the world, with well over 1,900 delivered. The NGX, unveiled in 2019, is the current generation and refines a proven design rather than replacing it, keeping the large cabin and short field ability that made the type popular with private owners and operators alike.

The NGX is powered by a single Pratt and Whitney Canada PT6E-67XP engine rated at 1,200 shaft horsepower, with full authority digital engine control and a low speed propeller mode that reduces cabin noise in the cruise. The flight deck is built around Honeywell Primus Apex avionics with large touchscreen controllers, and the cabin includes a forward, full height enclosed lavatory with a flushing toilet.

FAQ

How many passengers can it carry? Comfortably six to eight in a private layout.

What trips suit it best? Regional routes of up to about two hours, especially to smaller airfields that larger jets cannot reach.

Which airports can it reach? The PC-12 gets into short and regional runways that many jets cannot, landing you closer to where you are actually going. A few examples across our main regions:

Is there a toilet on board? Yes. Every PC-12 NGX has an enclosed lavatory and a small refreshment area as standard. It sits at the front of the cabin just behind the cockpit, which also keeps the baggage hold reachable during the flight.

How much does it cost to charter per hour? As a guide, a PC-12 NGX usually runs around USD 2,000 to 3,000 per hour. The final figure depends on the route, positioning flights, dates and the operator. Aaliya Jets always quotes the operator’s real hourly price, with no hidden markup.

Is there an enclosed toilet? Yes, the NGX has a forward enclosed lavatory with a flushing toilet and a privacy door, which is unusual in this class.

Can it use small or unpaved runways? Yes, the PC-12 is designed for short field work and can operate from grass and gravel strips, reaching airfields many jets cannot.

How far can it fly? The NGX has a range of roughly 1,800 nautical miles, comfortably covering most regional missions in a single hop.

Can you stand up in the cabin? The cabin is spacious for the class but not full standing height, so most passengers move about in a slight stoop.

What routes does it suit best? It is ideal for regional trips into smaller or remote airfields where its short runway ability and low costs are a real advantage.
