What it can really do

Midsize jets are built for four hours or less. Common charter examples are the Learjet 60, the Hawker 800 and 900 series, and the Cessna Citation XLS. They add a proper lavatory, more luggage room and a near stand-up cabin over the lighter classes, which makes the medium-haul trip far more comfortable.

Cabins do vary. Some older designs have a dropped aisle rather than full standing height, so if headroom matters it is worth asking which aircraft. As with every class, the quoted range assumes a light load, so a full cabin with bags will fly less than the brochure figure.
