The Learjet 60XR is a midsize development of the Learjet 60, which entered service in the 1990s and became known for its rapid climb and strong performance. The XR update, introduced in the late 2000s, brought a refreshed cabin and updated avionics. It carries the sporty character the Learjet name is famous for.
The Learjet 60XR is the updated version of the Learjet 60, which first flew in 1990 and was itself a stretched, re engined development of the Learjet 55. Launched in 2005 with deliveries from 2007, the XR added a modern flight deck to the last of the legacy Learjets, and the wider 60 family reached around 430 aircraft before production ended.
Two FADEC controlled Pratt and Whitney Canada PW305A turbofans deliver notably strong speed and climb, taking it to 41,000 feet in around 18 minutes, with a ceiling of 51,000 feet. The defining XR upgrade was the Rockwell Collins Pro Line 21 flight deck. The cabin is about 5 feet 7 inches tall with an enclosed aft lavatory, offering the largest cabin of any Learjet.
