The Praetor 500 is Embraer’s midsize jet, developed from the Legacy 450 and entering service in 2019. It combines fly-by-wire flight controls, a flat-floor stand-up cabin and impressive range for its class. It can link many transcontinental city pairs nonstop.
The Praetor 500 was unveiled in 2018 and earned Brazilian, European and American certification in 2019, with first deliveries to Flexjet that December. It is an improved development of the Legacy 450, gaining extra fuel and larger winglets, and sits alongside the super midsize Praetor 600 in Embraer’s line. Around 130 have been built and it is flown by fractional operators including Flexjet and NetJets.
Two Honeywell HTF7500E turbofans are flown behind a Collins Aerospace Pro Line Fusion flight deck with full fly by wire control, a rarity in this class. The flat floor cabin is a full 6 feet tall and 6 feet 10 inches wide, seats up to nine, and holds an enclosed rear lavatory. Embraer cites a class leading cabin altitude of 5,800 feet at cruise for lower fatigue on longer trips.
