The Embraer Legacy 500 entered service in 2014 as a mid-size jet built around fly-by-wire controls and a genuine stand-up, flat-floor cabin. It set a new comfort benchmark in its class and later evolved into the Praetor 600. It suits longer trips with room to move about the cabin.
The Legacy 500 prototype first flew in November 2012 and the type entered service in 2014 as Embraer’s clean-sheet super-midsize jet. It was the first aircraft in its class to combine a flat floor, a full stand-up cabin and fly-by-wire flight controls, marking a significant technical step for the manufacturer.
Power comes from two Honeywell HTF7500E engines, and the flight deck is built around the Rockwell Collins Pro Line Fusion avionics suite. The cabin stands 6 feet tall and around 6 feet 10 inches wide, with a rear enclosed lavatory and one of the largest baggage holds in the class. Just over 80 aircraft were built before production gave way to the Praetor 500 in 2020.
