History

The Falcon 7X is Dassault’s flagship trijet and was the first business jet to use digital fly-by-wire flight controls when it entered service in 2007. Its three engines allow strong performance and access to demanding airports, while the long, quiet cabin suits intercontinental travel. It set the template for the later 8X.

The Falcon 7X first flew in May 2005 and entered service in June 2007 as the industry’s first fully fly-by-wire business jet and Dassault’s founding ultra-long-range flagship. Its distinctive trijet layout uses three rear-mounted Pratt and Whitney Canada PW307A engines, which give strong short-field performance and an efficiency and safety margin unusual in its class.

The cabin is 6 feet 2 inches tall with three lounge areas, 28 windows and a sound level below 50 decibels, among the quietest in business aviation. Dassault delivered around 300 aircraft between 2007 and 2023, and the 7X established the platform later refined into the longer-range Falcon 8X.
