The Global 5500 is an updated version of the Global 5000, announced in 2018 with new, more efficient engines, greater range and a redesigned cabin. It links longer city pairs nonstop than the aircraft it replaced. It shares its refreshed cabin with the larger 6500.
The Global 5500 is a re-engined and upgraded development of the Global 5000, certified by Transport Canada in 2019 and entering service in 2020. It is powered by two Rolls-Royce Pearl 15 engines, developed specifically for the 5500 and 6500, and pairs them with a redesigned cabin and the Vision flight deck.
The cabin introduced Bombardier’s Nuage seat, described as the first new business-aviation seating architecture in over 30 years, along with a lounge that converts for sleeping or dining. The Global 5500 sits between the 5000 and 6500, adding meaningful range over the original 5000 within the same cabin footprint.
