The Global 5000 entered service in 2005 as a shorter-fuselage development of Bombardier’s Global Express, trading some range for a lower cost while keeping the wide cabin. It comfortably flies long intercontinental sectors. It gave the Global family a more accessible entry point.
The Global 5000 was announced in 2001 and has been in production since 2004, derived from the Global Express with a shortened fuselage for a shorter, faster mission profile. It is powered by two Rolls-Royce BR710 engines, and later aircraft adopted the Bombardier Vision flight deck with Rockwell Collins Pro Line Fusion avionics.
