History

The Boeing Business Jet, or BBJ, is a VIP version of Boeing’s best selling 737 airliner, launched in the late 1990s. It pairs an airliner-sized, fully customised cabin with extra fuel tanks for intercontinental range. It suits large groups and principals who want private-jet privacy with airliner space.

The Boeing Business Jet, or BBJ, is a VIP version of the 737 that first flew on 4 September 1998 and entered service in 1999. The original BBJ combines the 737-700 fuselage with the stronger wing and landing gear of the 737-800, and is powered by two CFM International CFM56-7 engines with blended winglets.

Auxiliary belly fuel tanks extend range to beyond 6,000 nautical miles, and each aircraft leaves Boeing as a green airframe for fit-out at a specialist completion centre. The result is a bespoke, home-like interior that can include a private bedroom, en-suite with shower, lounge, dining and office space, far larger than any purpose-built business jet.
